Explore the historic Canongate of Edinburgh’s Old Town

Wander through one of Edinburgh Old Town’s most atmospheric streets, as your local guide brings the Canongate to life with stories of its past and how food has shaped Scottish culture over the centuries. This food tour has been carefully curated not only to sample local delicacies but also to visit independent and culturally significant pubs and restaurants.

Traditional pub & haggis tasting

It is not a food tour in Scotland if you do not sample Scotland’s most celebrated dish: the humble haggis. Try some bitesize haggis bonbons in an independently owned pub with a fantastic atmosphere.

Scotland’s seafood heritage

Fishing has long been a big part of Scotland’s history and culture. Visit the oldest restaurant in the Canongate to enjoy a modern take on a classic: crab scotch egg.

A modern take on a classic

Discover how contemporary Scottish chefs reinterpret traditional dishes, blending time-honoured flavours with creative, modern techniques.

Cheese and meat board

Sample a carefully curated cheese and charcuterie board featuring venison sausage and a selection of Scottish cheeses, highlighting the country’s rich farming, game, and cheesemaking traditions.

Whisky heritage stop

Stop by Edinburgh’s oldest and most famous whisky bottling shop, where you’ll learn about Scotland’s national drink and its deep connection to history, place, and craftsmanship.

Generations of sweetness

Enjoy a taste from the iconic fudge shop that has been delighting locals and visitors alike for three generations, a true Edinburgh institution.

Time for dessert

End the tour with a delicious Scottish dessert paired with a whisky, the famous cure-all drink, rounding off the tour with the warming experience that only a wee dram of whisky can offer.
