London is known for its effortless classy look. However, winter is here and one layer won’t keep you warm in the bitter cold. If you’re planning a trip to London and don’t want to stick out like a sore thumb, or simply want to up your fashion game, then this article is for you. So, how do you put together a warm but fashionable outfit that fits in with current London fashion trends? Most importantly, how can you do so by using clothing items that you already have in your closet?

The general consensus is that it’s all about layering when it comes to both men and women’s winter fashion. Here are a few examples of popular pieces that overlap between both groups.

1. A long wool overcoat

A long wool overcoat is a perfect blend of fashion and comfort. Wool is a natural insulator, but also has a sophisticated look to it. It’s also a great clothing item to layer over a sweater in colder temperatures. You can wear it to work or on a casual outing making it a versatile option.

2. Big colorful scarves

There are probably around 100 different ways to style a scarf whether that be around your neck or over your head. Furthermore, scarves are a functional addition to any winter outfit because of their ability to keep your neck and ears warm. But, they don’t have to be boring – big and colorful scarves add a fashionable pop of color to your outfit!

3. Boots

Women all over London are wearing knee high boots. Most commonly, in black or chestnut brown colors because these match well with other colors making them easy to style. Men are also wearing boots this winter. According to a GQ article titled “12 winter clothing essentials for men for staying stylish and warm in 2025” Chelsea boots are currently very trendy for men in London.

Now, let’s look at winter fashion trends specific to women and men:

4. Women: Funnel necks

Anything with a funnel neck goes. This high neckline extends up giving the garment a clean and structured look. Despite being similar to a turtleneck the key difference is that a funnel neck doesn’t fold down and is wider at the top than the bottom. Brands are making sweaters, tops and coats with funnel necks which makes them a versatile option that keeps your neck warm.

5. Men: The staple puffer jacket
